Hi, I’m Lawrence Mae D. Esperanzate from the Philippines, a proud participant of the SEA Teacher Program Batch 11. During my one-month stay in Indonesia, I was blessed with the unforgettable opportunity to immerse myself in a vibrant culture, collaborate with fellow education students, teachers, and mentors, and experience teaching in an international setting.
In this blog, let me take you to Indonesia by sharing my SEA Teacher journey — the cultural discoveries that opened my eyes, the classroom moments that challenged and inspired me, and the reflections that shaped my growth as a pre-service teacher. Beyond the lessons, this journey also gave me the joy of meeting wonderful people who turned a new place into a home — transforming strangers into lasting friendships and meaningful bonds that made my stay even more memorable.
What is SEA Teacher Program Batch 11?
The SEA Teacher Program, initiated by Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO), is an international exchange project that gives education students the chance to teach abroad across Southeast Asia. Now on its 11th batch, the program continues to promote cross-cultural understanding, strengthen teaching skills, and build lasting connections among future educators. Through classroom immersion, lesson planning, and cultural exchange, Batch 11 participants carried forward the mission of shaping globally minded teachers and fostering unity in education across the region.
